In using wood, you are letting the furniture look as it was intended. However, there are still problems with using wood for making the Adirondack chair. For example, wood is more vulnerable to the weather than resin, meaning that you have to adopt a yearly care-taking regime. This can be hard work, and will also take up a lot of spare time.
The quality of the wood is just OK. I did have to sand spots down. I also applied a coat of poly as I'm not sure how it would hold up to the elements. 3.0 out of 5 stars I am officially a woodworker now. For the price if you have a little extra time it may be worth it to you. By GR on May 3, 2017 I am officially a woodworker now. Assembly took me around 2 hours at a relaxed pace. Where the screws go through they are pre-drilled. Where the screws are suppose to line up there is a little dimple. Which is sometimes hard to see. Also, I was worried about splitting the wood, so I pre-drilled some of these spots. .
I LOVE YOUR POLYWOOD SET!! & how you styled it is so lovely & fun. Can I come have a margarita with you? haha seriously though it looks amazing!! xx
Thanks for this informative article. My cousin simply bought a home that encompasses a nice terrace within the grounds. Hopefully, the following tips will facilitate his select a piece of furniture set that may enable her to entertain guests in comfort.
This Adirondack chair comes with perks—not only does it have a cup holder, it also comes armed (ha!) with a device holder, which means you can check your Instagram every five minutes!
We completely agree. This is the reason we recommend Sunbrella fabrics when that option is available. Sunbrella is an extremely durable and can even be washed with bleach without losing color. When shopping, check to see that the cushions have zippers for removing the foam core. This makes washing a breeze!

We made some changes big and small recently and now it's ready for nights around the fire! We had a backyard patio installed last year and have been updating it since. I gave you a tour of the patio earlier this summer and then later we installed cafe lights over the entire patio as well. (See that tutorial if you don't have trees to attach your lights to!) Last year I bought clearanced plastic Adirondack chairs to go around the fire pit: We started with six and after a few storms were down to four. The plastic was fine for what we paid, but we were always planning on something more substantial long term. SO many of you mentioned your love of POLYWOOD when I talked about our plan to upgrade. I looked into them (and with your recommendations), I was sold. The fact that they are an Indiana company and all products are made in the USA sealed the deal! I was so grateful to work with them to finish up our fire pit area...we could NOT be more thrilled with these chairs!: We chose the Vineyard Curveback Adirondack chairs in mahogany and they are perfection. They are crazy comfortable and roomy. This option also sits up a bit higher so they are much easier to get in and out of. That is huge detail for us! They arrived more than half way assembled -- once I got in a groove it only took about 15 minutes each to get them fully together. These chairs are SOLID and heavy enough that they don't move in high winds: Our favorite thing about these is the comfort -- and that they are so solid and don't move around. When we sat in the plastic ones they would scooch around every time we moved. We had a few evergreens planted this fall, and this is just the start of our plans for trees and plants. Having this big backyard to work with is so much fun and intimidating! We're taking it slow so we don't make any expensive mistakes. These chairs (and all of the items POLYWOOD offers) are made of recycled materials -- they use landfill and ocean-bound plastics to make their products. They recycle an average of 400,000 plastic milk jugs every DAY to make this beautiful outdoor furniture!: They are also made to hold up in any weather -- so no need to put them away for the winter. This is HUGE for us. We may purchase covers for them eventually, but they aren't necessary. They won't fade in the hot sun either, which is important for us because this spot gets all of the elements. Last week I added another layer of bricks to the fire pit so that it's a bit more substantial -- the little extra height feels like a big difference! Plus now it's the perfect height to prop up our feet: See how we built that fire pit safely and the little detail our contractors added to the patio in this spot. One of my favorite details of these chairs is the width of the armrests -- plenty of room for a wine glass or a snack! ;) I did my research about POLYWOOD and their product and was honored to work with them. We are so pleased with this product and I couldn't wait to tell you about them. Our fire pit area is so cozy and comfortable now -- we have the comfy seating, warm fire and lights for ambience. What more could we need?: These are definitely an investment -- but we after hearing from so many of you and doing my own research online, I found SO many happy customers who all say they are 100 percent worth it. We've had ours for six weeks now and completely agree. Plus, they have a TWENTY year warranty. This covers splintering, cracking, peeling and more. It's hard to find that kind of warranty on anything these days! I already have a list of fun projects for our patio for next year, but for now we will be enjoying this beautiful space: You can find those adorable fall pillow covers here. They were a birthday gift from my sister. :)

A good feature to look for are fully welded aluminum frames with powder coat finish. Aluminum is already a rust resistant metal and the additional layer of powder coating makes it practically rust-proof. The reason a fully welded frame is so important is because hardware is always the first thing to rust and then that can spread to the rest of the frame. The nuts and bolts that hold a piece of furniture together are typically made of a combination of metal types even when they say “stainless steel hardware.”

A: Typically, poly furniture is stain-repellent, which means it’s not prone to stains. However, over time, you may find your poly furniture may accumulate some debris or dirt that’s difficult to get off with soap and water. This phenomenon may happen if you live in an area where wind or frequent storms kick up dirt or dust. Or, it may be more likely if you use your furniture daily, especially if you’re eating and drinking while using it. Combine 1/3 bleach with 2/3 water. Remove any decorative items on the furniture, such as cushions or tablecloths, to avoid accidentally staining them with the bleach solution. Apply the bleach/water mixture to your poly furniture, then let it sit on the surface of the furniture for a few minutes. You can also use a soft-bristled brush to work the bleach/water mixture into the grooves in the surface or to loosen difficult stains. Don’t worry — this won’t damage the surface or change the color of your furniture! Rinse thoroughly with a hose, then allow to air dry.

Then decided I would keep them anyway only to find after unboxing all to assemble them 3 of 4 came with a wrong bar and could not be assembled. 3 hours of my life wasted dealing with them and I still need to go to UPS to return them Very small compared to my older real wood Adirondacks. For the price I would have expected a larger chair. Good size for me and my children but not for my husband. It's a great looker, nice design beautiful color. However the workmanship is a bit meh. Pieces initially didn't fit correctly, but once you sit on it, it came into place. A bit more desirable to have the gaps and edge roughness be more fine tuned. Comfort is like wood. Feels soft and enough resistance. I read some people complaining about how the seats aren't "adult" sized. I am 6'2 and fits fine. So I don't know what size those people are. A cushion will help soften the hard feel but I am plenty happy with it 4.0 out of 5 stars Great but just minor flaws By CoopaPple on April 14, 2021 It's a great looker, nice design beautiful color. Before deciding on a chair material, consider how much maintenance you’re willing to put into the chairs. It might be worth spending the extra money for teak or polywood to minimize your maintenance requirements. If you’re willing to refinish the wood every year and keep the chairs covered when they’re not in use, you can get an inexpensive set of Adirondack chairs.
