Adirondack chairs were first invented in 1903 by Thomas Lee. The first Adirondack chair was made of wood but with time a lot of changes have been made to these chairs. Wood has now been replaced by lighter and easy maintenance plastic and resin. The resin is produced by plants (called natural resin) or industrially produced (synthetic resin) and is popularly being used as an alternative to wood furniture all over the world.

However, there are some things to remember when it comes to maintaining polyethylene furniture: Never place hot items, such as cooking dishes or candles, on poly furniture. Remember, it’s plastic. Fire and heat will melt it. Don’t forget to clean your furniture! You don’t need to do it every week, but plan to clean it several times a year to prevent minor stains from setting in. A good rule of thumb is to clean your furniture once each season — winter, spring, summer and fall. Avoid placing flowerpots or other items that could stain on poly furniture.
After 20 years of wanting, thinking and dreaming of owning comfy Adirondack chairs, his dream has finally been fulfilled – and on Earth Day too (April 22!) which is perfect since POLYWOOD is made from over 90% plastic bottle waste (keeping it out of landfills). .

4. I found it easier assembling these alone, to assemble the F part legs and then screw them onto the base. This also helped with screwing the back on. 5.0 out of 5 stars Overall the chairs were not horrible to put together By Jessica Spear on June 24, 2018 ****NOTE: I was ok with putting the 2 chairs together and I am handy.
Maintenance is pretty practically non-existent! Just wash the chairs with soap and water, or a power wash if you have a power washer. Use a mild detergent to get off any persnickety stains.

3.0 out of 5 stars I am officially a woodworker now. For the price if you have a little extra time it may be worth it to you. I am officially a woodworker now. Assembly took me around 2 hours at a relaxed pace. Where the screws go through they are pre-drilled. Where the screws are suppose to line up there is a little dimple. Which is sometimes hard to see. Also, I was worried about splitting the wood, so I pre-drilled some of these spots.

You should be able to find the local stores number. That’s a tough call because these are popular. If you are going to make the trip, go before they open. I saw these in stock the other day at my Costco & they were going fast. I was there around 10:30am. Glad you were able to get your hands on 5 though!

Tired of trying to find room to store your Adirondack chairs? Here's a unique solution... build a chair that folds easily.

The quality of the wood is just OK. I did have to sand spots down. I also applied a coat of poly as I'm not sure how it would hold up to the elements. 3.0 out of 5 stars I am officially a woodworker now. While most colors will only need to be cleaned a few times a year, colors like white, gray, or ivory and other lighter colors will need to be cleaned more often to maintain their original beauty. For the lighter colors, rub the furniture with a soft bristle brush and rinse off with warm, clean water. If needed, you can use a high-pressure washer; be sure to hold the nozzle more than 12″ away from the furniture when using the pressure washer.

A: Poly furniture contains high-density polyethylene plastic, which is the name for the type of plastic you’d find in milk jugs. When consumers recycle their milk jugs and similar items, one way the recycled plastic can find a new life is in getting manufactured into “wood-look” pieces. There’s no lumber included in these pieces. It’s all high-density polyethylene plastic, which means it’s easily moldable and stands up well to moisture, sunlight and frequent use. Craftspeople can then transform those versatile pieces into a wide variety of outdoor furniture options.

You can fold your poly lumber furniture for convenient and easy storage. The biggest problem most people have with the standard Adirondack chairs is the inability to fold them and store them easily. That is not a concern with the “new and improved” poly furniture!
